Abbeyfield South Molton is extending a Warm Welcome to older people in the community to join them on Christmas Day rather than spend the day alone.

Abbeyfield South Molton is opening its doors to all older people on Christmas Day
The two Abbeyfield homes in the town - Bidders Court and Duffield Court - are inviting people of retirement age who live within a ten mile radius of the town to spend the day, inclusive of a free Christmas lunch, in homely surroundings and with the company of other independent, older people.
Both South Molton's Abbeyfield Homes (Bidders Court, at 3-6 Barnstaple Street, and Duffield Court on West Street), provide rooms for older people within sheltered accommodation, where residents can remain as independent as possible. They are a home from home, supported by professional and caring house staff and volunteers. Each day residents enjoy a home cooked, two course lunch and high tea.
Geoff Clapp, a committee member who helps to oversee the South Molton Abbeyfield Homes says:"Christmas can be a very special and magical time, but conversely it can be cold and lonely. Abbeyfield are at the very heart of our caring community here in South Molton and as such we are delighted to offer free hospitality on Christmas Day to any older person in the area who would otherwise be by themselves. There will be a traditional Christmas meal served at 12.00, an afternoon of companionship and no doubt some keyboard entertainment by one of our musical residents!"
