Back to School Shopping in Barnstaple

We’re only just

over half way through the summer holidays in Barnstaple and I’m going to whisper this very

quietly but it’s probably about time we started thinking about going back to

s.c.h.o.o.l!

No-one

wants their child to start the new term in last year’s too small shoes and the

only lunch box left in the shop emblazoned with Pixar’s less than recent film

characters.  So even if it messes with

your laid back summer hols mojo it may be time to pop into Barnstaple and get a

few of those back to school essentials.

As ever,

competition is high in retail and high street shopping seasons seem to creep in

earlier and earlier every year.  So right

now there is no lack of ‘back to school’ supplies in Barnstaple town centre.

We are

lucky to be able to pick and choose on quality and price in Barnstaple.

We all have our favourites for school clothes and can choose from BHS,

M&S, Peacocks and Mothercare depending on the latest style desires of our

offspring.  BHS is great for its variety

of sizing for school trousers in particular and one of the few places that sell

a range of school trousers for older boys who have spent all holiday

growing!  When your boys have grown to that “I’m nearly as tall as Daddy” stage then try

the men’s section of Primark for school trousers.

With school

shoes too there’s plenty of choice from Clarks and TReds to Shoe Zone and Stead and Simpson

all geared up for the school shoe season.

Top Marxs,

now on Barnstaple High Street caters for most of the Barnstaple area schools branded polo shirts,

sweatshirts and book bags with the added attraction of a sherbert dispenser to

lure the children in.

Stationery-wise

we have plenty of choice in Barnstaple too.  WH

Smith of course will have everything from pencils to scientific calculators but

you can shop around and find plenty of choice in Wilkinsons, Ryman and for

something a little special try one of the great independent shops like Youzo or

Funky Divas.

Of course

Tesco and Sainsburys are one-stop-shops for back to school gear and have great

selections of school clothing and stationery this time of year.

So you can get

in now and have the pick of the crop or wait until the last minute and scrabble

through the leftovers.  The choice is

yours, you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.  Just hang on to that holiday feeling and make

the most of those lie-ins while you can.

When shopping at TopMarXs yesterday I saw that they do much more than just the badged school items for my kids school like you said above. They too offer all the different uniform, at a reasonable price given the better quaility it is compared to certain hypermarkets - and they provide excellent personal service too . They also do special fit clothes for the non-average sized child. - BTW the sherbet and giant gobstoppers were good too!

Govers in Joy Street are really great - I got the whole uniform for my son at a very reasonable price - even my son remarked what a good shopping experience it was.

Top Marks in the High Street sell those iron in name tags (great for people like me who hate sewing) and an added bonus - they do them while you wait!

I let my son iron the name tags in himself, with a bit of help, so it was quite a good way of filling a rainy holiday morning and he will also know where to find his name when he loses something!

Just the football boots to go!
