encouraged to brush up on their general knowledge in preparation for a
fun-packed charity quiz in support of North Devon Hospice.
Organised by Devon accountancy firm
Simpkins Edwards and sponsored by HSBC, The Really Big Quiz will be held in
North Devon for the first time at The Barnstaple Hotel on 17 November, having proved
highly successful in Exeter where it has run for the past seven years. At the
event, teams from local organisations will be invited to pit their wits against
each other to find the region’s brainiest business. There will also be a raffle
and an auction in aid of the charity, and a buffet meal will be provided from
6.30pm before the quiz begins at 7.30pm.
“We’d like to encourage as many local
business as possible to enter teams,” said Jilly Watson, Partner at Simpkins
Edwards’ Barnstaple office. “It’s for a truly fantastic cause and will be a lot
of fun if our Exeter events have been anything to go by. Whilst everything is
very friendly, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition and it’s
great to see teams get so involved in the quiz and raising money for charity.
It should be a really good night!”
North Devon Hospice offers free
end-of-life care to individuals and families faced with the impact of a
life-threatening illness. As well as specialist palliative care it also
provides supportive care and complementary therapies to patients, carers and
families throughout North Devon.
“We are very grateful that the team at
Simpkins Edwards has decided to raise money for the hospice,” said Emma Lowe,
from North Devon Hospice’s fundraising team. “The Really Big Quiz is a great
idea, and by offering a delicious buffet as well as some fantastic items up for
grabs in the raffle and auction, I’m sure that there will be a full house on
the night.”
“All
of our services are provided completely free of charge, but it costs over £3 million
every year to care in this way,” she added. “We are reliant upon the amazing
generosity of the North Devon community, through events such as this, so we
hope that people will support it and help raise lots of money. Every penny
raised will make a real difference to the lives of the patients and families we
care for.”
