In this 3 day workshop course Jayne takes us through the history of self portraiture looking at the work of Cindy Sherman, Jo Spence, Margaret Cameron, Sophie Calle amongst others. Looking at the individual stories within the group, the first day will not involve a camera but instead we will study how we see ourselves in relation to others, our families and the world. Through story telling, collage, the written word, music and improvisation we will explore our identity. It is invaluable that initially we learn how to see without looking through the lens, creating the layers that have formed our lives. We are then ready to 'frame' our stories, creating our own narratives within photography. Working with digital and analogue cameras (provided) with access to darkrooms, this course is aimed at anyone over 18 (there is also a 14-18 group) of all levels. It is a meditative, creative journey that will instruct, inspire and stimulate.
At the end of the atelier there will be a local exhibition of the work produced.
