Who's bright idea is it to hold the the christmas light switch on on a thursday?? After looking at the timetable of events in this weeks Gazzette I was upset to see that one of our own local talents Steve Ley is to perform at 4pm when me and hundreds of others will be at work, after school clubs or other normal week day tasks. At least on a weekend it can be as i remember a family few hours out away from x boxes and having to visit the mother in law!!

It's supposedly to coincide with the first night of late night shopping. In some ways it makes sense but surely if people are watching the christmas light switch on, they won't be in the High Street shopping. I would also prefer it on the Sunday night, as it has been for the last few years.
