Anyone else NOT bothering to celebrate New Year's Eve? I have to work til 7.30pm then all I'll be interested in doing is resting. Though, unfortunately for me, I live very close to the square so there will be no peace and quiet for me til after the fireworks have been let off.

Hi Violetoblivia, quite frankly I find NYE rather depressing. There is so much pressure to enjoy yourself, get drunk etc. However if I were you I'd go for the 'if you can't beat 'em join 'em' seeing as you're right in the heart of the celebrations. After all, at least you won't be queuing for a taxi home.

lol I doubt they'd be playing my kind of music down there so I'll pass. Glad I'm not the only that finds it depressing though.

I find NYE depressing too Sandy and Violet! Like you say I think it's because you're "expected" to enjoy yourself and I find spontaneous nights out are always the best! People always get too drunk and cause trouble too, its a shame but it's the same at xmas-and it's supposed to be a happy time of year!!!
