Local charity "Paul's Fund" makes grants to young adults facing challenging circumstances to cover the cost of up to a week's respite holiday break staying at The Old Bakery ("Paul's Place") Bed and Breakfast in Georgeham near Croyde. To qualify the young adult will be facing diagnosis of a terminal or life limiting illness, bereavement, or be a full time, long term unpaid carer. Grants will also pay for close family members or a friend accompanying them.
Paul's Fund was set up by David and Pippa Morton, and is named after their son Paul who died of a brain tumour in November 2008 aged 19. It is part of the Charities Aid Foundation Reg. No. 268369.
In December, to mark the 5th anniversary of Paul's death, David along with two of Paul's close friends Jo and Rachael will be doing a sponsored trek up Mt Kenya. They are seeking local corporate and individual sponors whom they would be happy to promote in connection with the trek and the associated publicity.
