Green Lanes Shopping Centre in Barnstaple was sold yesterday to UK property investor British Land for £30 million!

The company also recently bought Drake's Circus in Plymouth.

I wonder what, if any, changes will be made to Green Lanes now it is under new ownership.

Green Lanes Shopping Centre should be at the hub of Barnstaple's retail wheel. But, like many businesses in the area, it has faded into a mediocre greyness, caused by a lack of vision and investment: it has been bent on following well-worn and tired trends instead of trying to be innovative. North Devon is unique. Let's have some leadership that will reflect that fact.

I would love to see some street performers in Green Lanes rather than cars and satellite dishes!

Street performers! Yeah, now you're talking.
Let's replace all the dishes and the cars
and fill the space with musical bars.
Let Green Lanes pulse to the rhythm of beats
and let poets rap about life on the streets.

Let shop assistants greet all with a smile ...
(that would be something I haven't seen for a while!)
Swing open the doors
and switch on the power.
The tills would be filled, hour upon hour!
