Police Use Taser on Barnstaple Man After Stabbing in Woolacombe

Police used a taser to subdue a 19 year old man from Barnstaple after a stabbing at Woolacombe Bay Holiday Village last night.
Police were called to the site just before 2am this morning, 4 October 2010, where the 22 year old male victim from Braunton had been stabbed in the hand.
When Police arrived at the scene they were confronted by the suspect threatening violence and being abusive. As the man did not respond to the Police's commands and was believed to be still carrying the weapon and to be a danger to the public and the officers they deployed a taser to subdue him.
The 19-year-old Barnstaple man was arrested and taken to Barnstaple Police Station where he remains in custody.
The victim is being treated in hospital.
