The Really Big Quiz, which takes place at the Barnstaple Hotel on Wednesday 7 November from 7.00pm, is a chance for teams to pit their wits against other businesses and groups of friends from the area. As well as a challenging quiz, there will also be an auction and raffle on the night, with all proceeds being donated to North Devon Hospice. The winners will receive a trophy and case of champagne, and there are also prizes for second and third places. Last year 36 teams competed in the event, which raised over £3,000.
Simpkins Edwards and North Devon Hospice have been busy collecting a host of prizes for the auction and raffle, all of which have been generously donated by local businesses and individuals. So far items include a brand new, six gear Apollo bike complete with pannier bags and a giant teddy, both of which were donated via North Devon Hospice's charity shops and will be sold to the highest bidder on the night.
"This is our third Really Big Quiz in Barnstaple and it's our aim each year to make it bigger than the last – and raise more money," said Jilly Watson, Partner at Simpkins Edwards' Barnstaple office. "We'd love to beat last year's total of just over £3,000 so if you and some colleagues or friends fancy a fun night out with a bit of light-hearted competition, please get in touch and sign up!"
North Devon Hospice is a local charity, supporting individuals and families who are faced with the impact of a life-limiting illness. Whilst many of its patients have been diagnosed with cancer, the charity also cares for people with heart failure, Motor Neurone disease, liver failure, dementia and other life-limiting illnesses. It provides care and support across North Devon, helping over 100 people every day, completely free of charge.
Emma Lowe, from North Devon Hospice's fundraising team, went to The Really Big Quiz last year and said it was an absolute blast. "We had a fantastic time at The Really Big Quiz, so I can personally recommend it as a great night out with colleagues or friends," she said. "We are grateful to Simpkins Edwards for organising the event and we hope to beat last year's total of 36 teams. If we can do that, it will raise even more vital funds for North Devon Hospice, helping us provide care to local patients and families. So please come along to show your support and we will see you there for a fantastic night."
