Barnstaple Flood Alert, Gale Force Winds and Rain Wednesday 3 January 2012

The Met Office has predicted a spell of very windy and wet weather for England and Wales on Tuesday between 3am and 6pm.
With gale force winds up to 70mph and heavy rain expected be prepared for disruption to travel.
The Environment Agency has already issued a warning that flood is possible in the following areas.
Barnstaple, Braunton, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin
Location: the Rivers Caen, Bradiford Water and Yeo and coastal steams from Braunton to Combe Martin
Lower Taw Area
Location: The Lower River Taw and its tributaries from Newnham Bridge to Barnstaple, including Umberleigh, Chittlehampton, Swimbridge and Bishops Tawton.
Flooding may occur from early tomorrow morning with 15-20mm rain expected across the region.
Exmoor and Dartmoor may receive 40-60mm rain.
Minor roads and low-lying land are most at risk of flooding.

ReportThere is an additional flood warning in place for Exmoor Rivers.
Location: The Upper River Exe from Exford to Exebridge, the Rivers Barle, Lyn, Mole, Bray and their tributaries and coastal streams from Combe Martin to Lynton.
Rivers are falling but still high so there is still a possibility of flooding.
This flood alert will remain in place overnight.
