GLEESON'S. The self professed strategic land experts!
By Stellatar | Saturday, March 16, 2013, 13:30
This company is proposing development at Trayne Farm, North Barnstaple.Outside of the development boundaries for Barnstaple. A leaflet has been distributed by them to properties close to the site but interestingly not adjacent to it.This leaflet is designed in such a manner as to make it appear they are doing the local community a big favour. Gleeson's ask three questions in this carefully worded & distributed leaflet,
1) Do you feel the design approach taken responds to the opportunities of the site?
2) Do you have any ideas about what else we could provide as part of our proposals for the benefit of The local community.?
3) Do you have any other comments?
These fields are next door to our hospital & rise above it. The entrance to the proposed site would share the same entrance as the hospital, at the traffic lights. A busy enough junction now. Imagine how it would become with another huge increase in vehicles trying to negotiate in & out of Robourough Road.
Especially emergency vehicles where life & death could be counted in a matter of seconds!
This is not a proposal for the local community, as proved by Gleeson's own website within which it states,
" The team's professionalism, determination & integrity along with their attention to details have delivered substantial returns both to the group & to their landowner partners".
Comments to: sthorpe@mjgleeson.com are required by 27th March.
Act now for the Local community & tell them to leave the countryside & our services alone & unaffected by their search for purely financial gain!

Comments
In a proposal 2 yrs ago Gleeson stated that they have an option on this land. They will obviously keep the landowner on the hook until they can push through planing consent. They will not purchase from the landowner until they have achieved this, thereby minimising their risk and not jeopardising company profit.
Gleeson Strategic Land have options on what we have always considered agricultural green belt in the South of England, their objective being to eventually get planning consent to develop them. Once achieved they have no further interest other than to buy and sell on to the next developer, thereby making huge profit for company and shareholder.
This demonstates that they are not really interested in the so called 'vision' they have for the local community and rather more in making a quick profit at the expense of the land owner and the local community.
We must stop this unethical exploitation of the planning system and tell companies like Gleeson that they are unwelcome here in Devon.
If you feel strongly about this please email sthorpe@mjgleeson.com and
demonsrate your opposition to their immoral practices.
