A REAL life Prince Charming mounted a Facebook campaign to reunite a lost shoe with its owner.
Mac McClure, 47, from Barnstaple, made it his mission to return the shoe and finally found his Cinderella after a three-week hunt on the social networking website.
Mac had been to a friend's birthday party in Ilfracombe on New Year's Day but left around 10.30pm to drive home.
He said: "As I returned to my car on Portland Street, I spotted a lady's shoe on a wall. It was a black, high-heeled, size five suede shoe which looked new and very lonely.
"I don't know why but I decided to make it my mission to reunite the shoe with its owner so I took it home, cleaned it up and took a photo of it."
Mac posted the picture on Facebook claiming to be Prince Charming searching for his Cinderella.
He said: "It started off as a laugh and soon attracted a lot of comments. But because I don't know that many people in Ilfracombe, no one claimed the shoe."
Mac then posted the picture on the "Items For Sale In Ilfracombe" Facebook page.
Before long the shoe's owner, 23-year-old student Wendy Barter from Ilfracombe, saw the photo and left a comment.
She wrote: "Oh my god, that's my shoe. How did it get on here?"
Mac contacted Wendy and arranged to meet in Ilfracombe to return the shoe.
Wendy said: "I'd only just bought the shoe when I lent it to one of my friends to wear on New Year's Eve.
"I'm not sure how she lost it but I know her boyfriend had to give her a piggyback home that night.
"It was really funny to see the shoe on Facebook and although it wasn't expensive, I'm really glad to have it back."
