Big bird 'arrested' by Barnstaple police

An unusual suspect ruffled feathers of the local constabulary in Barnstaple this morning (Nov 28).

Police apprehend an emu in Barnstaple
A member of the public rang the police just before 8.00am when he saw a flightless bird walking along St Georges Road, Barnstaple, near to Pilton Park.
Acting Sergeant Zoe Parnell and Police Community Support Officer Stephen Huxtable found the 4ft tall emu in Riddell Avenue. Although the bird was in a state of panic they managed to coax it into the rear of the police car and call the owner.
