Barnstaple's Pannier Market gets festive

Sunday Christmas markets will start next week (December 2) at Barnstaple Pannier Market.

The market will be open every day in December in the run-up to the big day, giving customers even more opportunity to pick up something special for Christmas.

As well as opening Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm, there will be festive markets on Sunday 2, 9, 16 and 23 December from 10am to 4pm.  The market will close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening on Friday 28 December.

Customers of the North Devon Council run market can expect plenty of seasonal cheer and the opportunity to pick up gifts for all the family this holiday season.

Next Thursday 29 November, one of the UK's premiere mountain bike trials athletes, Andrei Burton and his team of international action sports athletes will be in the market to wow late-night shoppers with their high-flying skills.

On Thursday 6 December, Barnstaple Town Council will be holding their annual Christmas fayre and carol service at the market from 6.30pm-8.30pm - Father Christmas himself will be there in person!

And finally, late-night shoppers can also pop into the market from 6-7pm on Thursday 15 December, for some classical Christmas entertainment from West Buckland School's 100-piece Symphony Orchestra.

Executive Member for Economic Regeneration, Councillor Malcolm Prowse says: "I'm really pleased to see that the market will be opening on Sundays again this December.  There's always a great atmosphere in the market, especially at this time of year.  With fresh, seasonal produce and unique gifts from local traders, the market has something for everyone."
