Barnstaple Police Offer Residents Free Property Marking February 2012

Barnstaple police are offering the public free property marking of valuable items.

The protection of items involves marking the item and its details then being entered onto a security database.

The property marking helps prevent theft because:

• The goods become unattractive to thieves to steal as they know if caught in possession the police can quickly work out it is stolen property.
• Traceable stolen property becomes more difficult to 'cash in' with a purchaser.
• There's a better chance you will get your stolen property back.

 You can take your items along to the following locations to get them marked this month:

• Friday 3 February 2-4 pm Gorwell Community Centre
• Tuesday 24th February 9.30 - 12.30 Barnstaple Pannier Market
• Tuesday 21 February 9.30 - 12.30 St Johns Garden Centre Newport.
